Phone with a rising chart and a chess king: mobile app development
APPS / MAXARIUM

Mobile app development
An app your customers or staff use every day.

Mobile app development for iOS and Android starts with the main thing your customers or staff need to do every day. Maxarium, a separate development company, plans the interface, platform, backend and store release as one product.

WHAT WE DO

What mobile app development includes

01

Main task and phone features

We map the main task, user roles and devices, and decide whether the app needs the camera, notifications, location or offline work.

02

Native or cross-platform

We compare building separately for iOS and Android with one shared codebase, based on your features, budget for maintenance and integrations.

03

Backend, accounts and data

We plan sign-in, permissions and the connection to your systems, and what the app does when the network drops or an action is sent twice.

04

Testing and store release

We test on real devices, prepare everything Apple and Google ask for and plan updates after the app is published.

What you get

  • A product description and clickable screens of the main flows, agreed with you.
  • A working app connected to the backend and systems you need.
  • Device testing, store release materials and a plan for updates.
EXAMPLE TASK

What this can look like

A field team needs to receive jobs, attach photos and update the status from a phone, sometimes without a signal. We plan the mobile flow, offline mode and the handover to the office system before choosing features.

IS IT A FIT

Who a mobile app is for

A good fit

  • Businesses whose customers come back often: bookings, orders, loyalty, customer accounts.
  • Teams working away from a desk that need the camera, location or offline access.
  • Products where push notifications or a home-screen icon really change how often people use the service.

Not the right fit

  • Occasional use, such as a one-off form or a catalogue people visit twice a year: a website or web app is cheaper and needs no store review.
  • An idea not yet tested with users: start with an MVP.
HOW WE WORK

From an idea to an app in the stores

Each stage ends with something you can check before we continue.

01

Brief and discovery

We agree the users, the main task and the platforms, and check whether a mobile app is the right format at all.

02

Prototype

Clickable screens of the main flows, tested with a few real users before development starts.

03

Development

Maxarium builds the app in short iterations, and you see working features regularly, not only at the end.

04

Launch and support

Device testing, store submission and an agreed plan for fixes and updates after launch.

BEFORE WE START

What we need from you

A description of the users and their main task, a few apps you like and what exactly you like about them, access to the systems the app must connect to, and developer accounts with Apple and Google in your company’s name. We help set them up if you don’t have them yet.

We also need a product owner who decides what goes into each version and answers the team’s questions in days, not weeks.

What we don’t promise

We don’t promise downloads, store featuring or review dates: Apple and Google check apps by their own rules. We prepare the app to meet those rules and plan the release around their review.

PLATFORM

Native, cross-platform or PWA: how to choose

The choice affects cost, speed and what the app can do with the phone. We recommend one in the brief and explain why.

Native iOS and Android app development

Separate apps in Swift and Kotlin. Best performance and full access to the camera, Bluetooth, background tasks and new platform features. Two codebases mean more work to build and maintain.

Cross-platform

One codebase in Flutter or React Native for both platforms, with native modules where needed. The sensible default for most business apps: bookings, orders, accounts, field work.

Progressive web app

Installs from the browser without the stores. Cheaper and updated instantly, but background work and some device features are limited, especially on iPhone.

COST

What affects the cost of mobile app development

Two apps with the same number of screens can take very different amounts of work. These are the factors behind the quote.

01

Platforms and approach

One platform or two, native or cross-platform, phone only or tablets as well.

02

Roles and screens

A customer app, a courier app and an admin panel are three products, even if they share a backend.

03

Offline work and sync

An app that must keep working without signal and merge changes later is much more complex than one that is always online.

04

Backend and integrations

Sign-in, payments, maps, push notifications and connections to your CRM or ERP.

05

The admin panel

Someone has to manage users, content and orders. It is often left out of the first quote and then added in a hurry.

06

Store rules and maintenance

In-app purchase rules, privacy requirements and the yearly iOS and Android updates that every app needs.

AFTER RELEASE

An app needs looking after once it is live

Apple and Google release new system versions every year, libraries go out of date and store rules change. Without maintenance an app starts to break within months: login fails on new phones or the store sends a warning.

Before launch we agree who monitors crashes, who updates the app for new system versions and how quickly urgent fixes are released. This is part of the quote, not a surprise afterwards.

FAQ

Mobile app development: common questions

Do you develop for both iOS and Android?

Yes, for one or both. We agree the supported devices and choose native or cross-platform development based on the features and long-term maintenance.

Whose name is the app published under?

Usually under your company’s developer accounts with Apple and Google. Who has access to the accounts and who handles store reviews is agreed before the first submission.

Who builds the mobile app?

Maxarium, a separate development company that builds apps and games, develops the iOS and Android versions. Monetizator works with you on the brief and product decisions and, if you need it, on marketing and analytics.

Native or cross-platform?

We choose by the task. Cross-platform, one codebase for iOS and Android, suits most business apps. Native makes sense when the app relies heavily on the camera, sensors or demanding graphics. We explain the choice in the brief.

How is the cost of a mobile app calculated?

From the platforms and approach, the roles and screens, offline needs, integrations and the admin panel. After the brief and discovery we send you a quote with cost and timing in EUR.

Can you take over an app built by another team?

Yes, after reviewing the code, the backend and the store accounts. We tell you honestly what can be supported as it is and what needs reworking before new features are added.

What should your app let people do?

Describe the users, the main task and the tools the app should connect to. We’ll reply with questions and a suggested first step.
