Monitor with bar, doughnut and line charts: BI dashboard
ANALYTICS / BI DASHBOARDS

BI dashboard development
One view of how the business is doing.

BI dashboard development is for managers who wait days for reports or get different numbers from each department. We connect your CRM, accounting and operational data, agree how every metric is calculated and build a dashboard in Power BI, Looker Studio or Metabase that shows what needs attention and what to do next.

WHAT WE DO

What BI dashboard development includes

01

Metrics that matter

We choose the metrics behind real decisions and agree how each one is calculated, which periods are compared and how much detail each role needs.

02

Sources and data preparation

We connect your CRM, operational systems or databases and check for gaps, duplicates and totals that don’t match before building any charts.

03

The dashboard itself

We build the views in a BI tool you already use or in a simple web interface. The tool is chosen by access, licences and your team’s habits.

04

Updates and handover

We set the refresh schedule and access rights, show when data was last updated and check sample totals against the source before handover.

DELIVERABLES

What you get with the dashboard

  • A metric dictionary: what each number means, how it is calculated and where it comes from.
  • A working dashboard with checked totals and filters people use.
  • Short instructions on updates, access and what to do when data looks wrong.
WHAT TO SHOW

Management reporting dashboards: what a manager should see

A useful dashboard answers a few questions for one role. Typical ones we build:

01

Sales and pipeline

New enquiries, deals by stage, conversion between stages and revenue against plan, with the deals that have stalled.

02

Finance and cash

Revenue, margins, unpaid invoices and expected payments, built from the accounting system rather than retyped figures.

03

Operations

Orders in progress, delays, workload by team and on-time delivery, from the systems where work is tracked.

04

Marketing

Enquiries and sales by channel, cost per qualified enquiry and how they change month to month.

POWER BI OR SOMETHING ELSE

Power BI dashboard, Looker Studio or Metabase: how we choose

Power BI suits companies already on Microsoft 365 that need row-level access rules and more complex models. Looker Studio is quick and free for Google-based data and marketing reports, though it slows down on large sources. Metabase works well on top of your own database and can live on your servers.

We look at where the data sits, who needs access, licence costs and what your team already opens every day. A dashboard in a tool nobody logs into is wasted work.

EXAMPLE TASK

What this can look like

Sales, finance and the operations team each keep their own spreadsheet, and the monthly meeting starts with an argument about whose numbers are right. One dashboard with agreed definitions replaces the three files.

IS IT A FIT

Who BI dashboards are for

A good fit

  • Managers who wait days for reports or get different numbers from different departments.
  • Companies whose data sits in a CRM, an accounting system and spreadsheets, and someone combines it by hand.
  • Teams that already know which decisions they want to make faster.

Not the right fit

  • A company with no data collected yet: start with tracking and data collection, see marketing analytics.
  • A need for one-off analysis rather than a regular view: a written analysis is cheaper than a dashboard nobody opens.
COST

What affects the cost of BI dashboard development

We quote cost and timing in EUR after a first look at your data. The quote depends on:

01

Number of sources

One CRM is quicker than a CRM, accounting, a web store and spreadsheets that must be matched by customer and order.

02

State of the data

Duplicates, missing fields and different definitions have to be fixed before charts, and this often takes most of the time.

03

Views and roles

A single management view is smaller than separate screens for sales, finance and each department with their own access.

04

Refresh and tool

Daily refresh from exports is simple; frequent updates through APIs and paid BI licences add work and cost.

COMMON MISTAKES

Why dashboards end up unused

  • Charts are built before anyone writes down which decision they support.
  • Thirty metrics on one screen, so nothing stands out.
  • Totals that do not match the accounting system, and trust is lost in the first meeting.
  • No date showing when data was last updated.
  • Nobody owns the dashboard after launch, so broken sources go unnoticed.
PROCESS

How we build a dashboard people trust

Each stage ends with something you can check before we continue.

01

Brief

We agree the decisions the dashboard supports, who uses it and which sources hold the data.

02

Data review

We check the sources: gaps, duplicates, different definitions of the same metric, and how often data updates.

03

Build and check

We build the first version of the dashboard and check its totals against the source systems with you.

04

Handover and review

We hand over the dashboard with instructions, then review it after a few weeks of real use and adjust what people don’t use.

BEFORE WE START

What we need from you

A list of the decisions the dashboard should support, access (read-only is enough) to the CRM, accounting or other sources, examples of the reports you build today and the names of the people who will use it.

One person on your side should know how each number is used and who acts on it. Without that person, a report quickly becomes another file nobody opens.

FAQ

BI dashboards: common questions

Can you fix a dashboard we already have?

Yes. We check its sources and calculations against the systems, remove what nobody uses and fix the numbers that do not match. Often this is quicker than building a new one.

Do we need a new BI platform?

Not necessarily. We start with the tools you already have. A separate platform makes sense only when the current one can’t handle the sources, users or access rules you need.

Will the dashboard be real time?

It depends on the sources, the business need and running costs. For most management decisions a daily or hourly update is enough. We agree it up front and show on the dashboard when data was last updated.

Which tools do you build dashboards in?

Usually Looker Studio, Power BI or Metabase, or a simple web interface when the dashboard has to live inside your own system. We pick the tool your team will open.
